No Births on Monday is the story of midwifery services in rural remote areas of Australia from the days before European settlement to the present. While the focus is on the south-west of New South Wales, the history ranges more widely to canvass the importance of early maternity training hospitals and Tresillian nurses and community-based ‘lying-in’ hospitals and individual midwives.
